Swimming: Peirsol breaks backstroke record
American swimmer Aaron Peirsol reclaimed his world 100-meter backstroke record as he became the first man to go under 52 seconds in winning the event at the U.S. National Championships in Indianapolis.

The parent company of Rosecroft Raceway in Prince George's County has filed a $20 million lawsuit against 17 defendants, including the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association, alleging that they are interfering with the track's simulcast agreements with out-of-state racetracks.
All-Area baseball team
Dan ZarnikRidgefield, JuniorPitcher/OutfieldFCIAC Player of the Year €¦ Zarnik was expected to have a good year for the Tigers, but not this good. The junior finished the season 6-1 with a 1.10 ERA, 25 strikeouts and just three walks in 51 innings.
