Mine That Bird claims shock Kentucky win Mine That Bird produced a huge shock as he streaked to victory in the 135th running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.
I love to look at horses. But what I don't get are names given to race horses. They seem to be insulting, infantilizing, even. Great horses should have triumphalist names like, "Secretariat" or "Vindication"! Or even "Vigilante" would do. But "Mine that Bird"? Shouldn't it be "Mind that Bird"? What's the syntax here? What dopey names are given to such magnificent animals! One would think they are arbitrarily pulled out of a hat. I mean, one wouldn't name a large dog something like what they name race horses.
